Airbus announces the end of its hydrogen aircraft development program. This decision will come as no surprise to anyone among hydrogen professionals, given the difficulty of producing this energy in a green way and then securely storing it within an aircraft. So why did Airbus embark on this long-lost venture? The answer may lie in the colossal aid received from the French government during the pandemic in the summer of 2020: €15 billion was granted to help with technical unemployment, but two-thirds of this was to be allocated to research and development of the Green Aircraft; that is, one powered by hydrogen. Wasted public money?
